A Simple Way to Extend Your Social Media Content & Boost Website Traffic and Customers

A Simple Way to Extend Your Social Media Content & Boost Website Traffic and Customers

Social Media platforms are great way to generate buz about you and your business.

But, I’m sure you can agree that it’s hard to convert this buz into customers using your social media platform of choice alone.

Well, it turns out that you can significantly boost your sales and conversions by simply and quickly extending your social media post through your website.

In this post I’ll show you how this effective 5 minute hack.

The logic

Social media is great. But when we’re talking about generating sales, enquiries and customers – your website is better.

Your website is where you have total control about how you communicate who you are and what you do to your prospective customer. There’s less distractions, it’s you and your business being advertised alone.

If structured correctly you have optimised your website for conversion. There are prominent call to actions (CTAs) throughout your site.

If you’re an e-commerce retailer then this is where you sell your products.

Potential browsers can easily navigate your site to find more about you, read reviews, and learn about your products and services by browsing dedicated pages. They will browse your extensive (or soon to be extensive) blog that builds and showcases your authority and trust in the area that focus on.

Everything on your site is branded and orientated into getting people to pick up the phone and call you, fill out one of your forms or purchase one of your products.

The 5 Min Hack: Extent Your Social Media Post into a Blog Post

It sounds simple. And it is.

This is a simple and effective way to draw people into your website, engage with your website and ultimately lead to more customers.

Here’s a Worked Example

As an example, let’s look at one of my client’s recent posts on Facebook.

This is their original post:

A Simpleand Easy Way To Extend Your Social Media Content Boost Website Traffic

It’s a pretty standard post. It got likes, shares and engagement. But it could have been better.

In 5 minutes we can easily turn this into a blog post and direct traffic to their website.

Here’s how.

Add Value to Your Post by Directing Interested People to ‘Learn More’ on Your Website

In this post it’s alluded to that something was ‘learned’.

We can use this to add more value to this post via a blog post.

You can then direct people to your website by pointing to this post where the value add-on is given.

Using this example the Facebook post would now look like this:

The 5 Min Hack Extent Your Social Post Into A Blog Post

Now, people can head to your website to learn more if they’re interested in learning more.

Keep your blog post simple. The intention is to get people onto your site. Giving a short and succinct extra bit of value is more than enough.

If your site is structured correctly once people are on your site they will browse around. Perhaps they’ll look for more cool tips in your blog. Perhaps they will wonder over to your service and product pages and realise that you offer something that they need.

If your site is clearly navigable and has prominent CTAs you position yourself to capitalise on this traffic coming through.

Here’s what your blog post will look like:

Add Value To Your Post Social Media Hack

It looks like a lot more effort went into this than was the case. That’s the beauty of working with a great website template.

This only took 5 minutes to produce.

All we’ve done is copy over the existing content used in the Facebook post.

We added a few extra sentences to the post (nothing profound or time consuming), added a title (copy-pasted from a chunk of the text) and put in a succinct CTA at the end of the written content (“get in touch for more”).

The rest of the content comes from the website’s template!

Here’s a closer look.

Template With Ctas And Nav Shown

From that small original Facebook post we’ve created all this. In just 5 minutes.

Red highlighted items show some of the navigation and CTAs that your encouraging your traffic to engage with. Similarly, a good website template will incorporate lots of other relevant trust signals. In this example the accreditation logos, health fund logos, ‘supporting’ logo and ‘partnered with’ logo.

The value add statement in this example was used purely as my example to showcase how easy and quickly the client could do this. They came up with something much better once I explained and showed them the concept we are currently going over.

Importantly, write what comes to mind first. Short, succinct value adds are great.

It could be 3 points or it could be 1.

Write whatever you want, there’s no wrong answer.

Being experienced and specialised in your field you will know a lot more than what is left on-page. And that’s perfectly fine.

If people want to learn even more they can get in touch with you.

Added Content & SEO Benefit

If your website template is well designed this will have a 10-fold benefit.

SEO

This template has been designed to strategically place the keywords in appropriate places to optimise the post for search.

Each page has the opportunity to rank for its core keyword terms used. Similarly, adding fresh content to your site always helps.

Ultimately this will bring more traffic to your website.

Again, if your website is optimised to capitalise on this traffic coming through you will get more customers.

Quickly Build a Comprehensive Authoritative Content Archive

Try to do this with just one post a week.

Easily work it into your broader social media and/or content strategy if you have one. Compliment your exiting and ongoing efforts.

If you did this once a week, Spending just 5 mins each week, after one year you would have an additional 52 high quality posts that people can browse and engage with.

All of which showcases that you really do know what you’re talking about.

It gives your audience and prospective clients an even greater reason to trust you and engage with your brand.
